“We stayed here for an extended period while my husband had surgery at UPMC. The location was great. We could walk to the hospital. Also if you are visiting the Pitt campus it is very convenient. The hotel itself needs some updating. The furniture in the room was not very comfortable and that goes double for the sofa sleeper. The staff was fine, but no one stood out and we were there for a very long time. I hesitate to criticize the quality of the housekeeping considering we are still dealing with COVID and we did not want it daily, however one time we asked for cleaning and they took the change we had gotten for the laundry machine. I guess they thought it was a tip Another time they came in and took the tip we actually HAD left for them and didn’t bother to clean the room! Like we weren’t gonna notice? The bar was fine and I visited often. The food was limited and a bit expensive for what it was, but sometimes you have to pay a little more for convenience. The hotel is situated in the middle of a fast food Mecca so there are all kinds of walkable cheaper options if you have the energy. Do not expect to find upscale dining in Oakland. It definitely caters to the college crowd. Its location makes up many of the things this hotel lacks.”
