We had the rooms with garden view. The Royal grounds are beautiful. If you want direct access to Waikiki beach, the location is perfect. The rooms are a bit dated, but given the age of the hotel that was expected. The rooms were nice and clean. The housekeeping staff were amazing. The food at the Mai Tai food was good. We really liked the pink pancakes. We enjoyed the cabana. Love the cabana seating arrangement and location. Although would be nice to have beach facing options for the cabana. Had to pay to have a microwave in the room (nominal $25 charge). Customer service was great. Overall, great stay.❤️

The room we stayed in had a king size bed, it was really nice but a little small, but had an amazing view. The amenities were all really nice, I loved that they had an ice and water machine on every floor so it made filling up our water bottles that we brought from home super easy. The staff were amazing, friendly, and always helpful. Loved all the staff that we met there. My only complaints other than the room and gym being a little small, was that the pool and spa closed really early and the menu for the Mai Tai bar was kinda small. I also really liked that a lot of restaurants and shops were within walking distance. The next time we are in Hawaii, I would definitely stay here again.

Loving our stay in Honolulu! This hotel is rich in culture, history, and hospitality. We chose to stay here for our honeymoon and are so glad we did! The hotel offers daily activities that are fun for singles, couples and families. Beachfront location is ideal. Though not a quiet beach, the hotel gives access to beach chairs for guests (for a price - worth it!). We opted for a half day at the beach, and paid half price for the umbrella and lounge chairs. The dining options are wonderful. We ate at Azure on our first night, and it did not disappoint. Each course was well-curated, and gave us an authentic experience. The hotels local is also ideal for shopping. Boutique shoes, high end designers, and numerous dining options are just a one minute walk away. Highly recommend The Royal Hawaiian to anyone visiting Honolulu!

We stayed here for one night at the end of our trip in a historic king ocean view. The hotel is beautiful and I loved the room. The historic feel was great and it was nice to see the ocean. One of my bags broke upon arrival and a woman at the bell desk was very kind and ran and got me some ABC bags. The bellman that brought my bags to the room was so wonderful. Check in- I had checked in through the app the day before and requested an early check in which they accommodated and I was very grateful. The waterproof wrist bands as room keys are convenient for the beach. The activities calendar was nice to have. Rooms- I really enjoyed the historic wing. The rooms were clean and the detail on the doors was gorgeous. My only complaint is that the walls are paper thin and you can hear the people next door but luckily that wasn't too much of an issue and overall it felt secluded. Check out- We checked out at noon and reserved the refreshment room to use before our flight. This was a great convenience despite the group before us staying beyond their alloted time. It was nice to be able to shower before heading to the airport. It didn't seem super clean and you had to go to the shower area for paper towels in the toilet area but I could definitely live with those things to be able to have the this convenience before we left. Overall thoughts- I truly did like staying here because of how gorgeous the hotel was and how it felt secluded despite being near everything in Waikiki. I didn't give it 5 stars because I'm just not sure it is worth the price. The base room cost wasn't bad but once you add all the taxes and resort charges it ended up being quite a bit more. I stayed in three different hotels in Waikiki and if you don't care about the expense this one is great. I'm just not entirely convinced it was worth the extra cost. You also still had to rent beach chairs and umbrellas which I would have thought would have been included in a luxury resort fee. I'm definitely glad I at least visited once.

We stayed in a Mailani Tower high floor ocean front balcony room. The view was spectacular! If you plan to stay in Waikiki, the hotels are very expensive and you should lower your expectations for what to expect for your money. With that in-mind, we were still disappointed with our experience at The Royal Hawaiian. The hotel is a bit run-down, but that I can forgive since this is a sandy beach venue. I'm always friendly to all, but many people here seem angry and rude. Stock-up at a grocery store if you stay here. Room service is a standard expectation from hotels that claim to be 5* properties, but the Royal Hawaiian has none. So don't expect any nice dinners on your expensive balcony. Not many other food options and the coffee bar opens too late and has long lines. (-1*) We expect room darkening curtains from any hotel room, but the Royal Hawaiian does not have curtains or even binds. The windows have fixed slat louvered panels that don't even come close to blocking the light. Also, a very odd design choice for the wall-to-wall ocean view to be 40% blocked by sliding louvered panels. (-1*) I called the day before arrival to request early check-in, and was encouraged, but understood there were no guarantees. But on arrival, the front desk clerk chose to lecture me on when check-in time is, as if that point was somehow lost in the early check-in request. He said they he would call me when the room was ready. But no call. I found myself waiting in line again, showing ID again, and not-checking-in until well after check-in time. In the 3 hours that we were waiting for the call, I did notice that the suitcases from other waiting guest grew to a mountain, and none but ours were left by the time we received our keys. (-1*) I can't understand why any guest should ever need to request remote for the TV and a do-not-disturb placard for the door. Should be standard equipment in all rooms. We also stayed at a sister property 2 hotels down the beach and had the opposite experience. Strange contrast.

Fantástico. Lugar paradisíaco. Perto de tudo e mais pé na areia do que isso é impossível. Atendimento excelente e tudo muito organizado. É um dos primeiros hotéis da Ilha, tem até um mini museu com fotos da época, muitas pessoas já estiveram aqui. A comida é ótima, os drinques, nem se fala de tão bom.

Tivemos uma estadia maravilhosa aqui. O hotel e os jardins são lindos, e o acesso à praia de Waikiki é imbatível. Os funcionários são gentis e prestativos. Nós apreciamos nossos muffins de banana e café da padaria RH pela manhã e adoramos as panquecas rosas do Surf Lanai. O Mai Tai Bar tinha ótimos drinks, boa música e boa energia. Nós amamos nosso quarto no jardim na seção histórica - era tranquilo e bonito e a cama era tão confortável. A única crítica que tivemos foi o atendimento no restaurante Azure deixou um pouco a desejar. Se você decidir ficar aqui, saiba que você deve reservar essas cadeiras de praia com antecedência. Reserve-os no site ao reservar sua estadia, para que não haja surpresas.

We had a wonderful stay here. The hotel and grounds are gorgeous, and the access to Waikiki Beach is unbeatable. The staff are kind and helpful. We enjoyed our banana muffins and coffee from the RH bakery in the morning, and loved the pink pancakes from Surf Lanai. The Mai Tai Bar had great drinks, good music, and good energy. We loved our garden room in the historic section - it was quiet and pretty and the bed was so comfortable. The only criticism we had was the service at Azure restaurant left a little to be desired. If you decide to stay here, please know that you have to book those beach chairs ahead of time. Reserve them on the website when you book your stay, so there are no surprises.

Ficamos no Royal Hawaiian no início de dezembro de 2021. Fomos recebidos por uma equipe muito gentil, experiente e convidativa. O lobby foi lindamente decorado para o Natal. Nosso quarto ficava na torre, então não ficamos na parte histórica do hotel, mas ver as ondas e os surfistas foi incrível da nossa varanda no 8º andar. Recebemos vouchers de café da manhã e bebida. Algumas coisas parecem um pouco vintage e desatualizadas, mas nada muito terrível. Nosso banheiro era lindo. No entanto, eu poderia fazer sem o assento aquecido do vaso sanitário. O a/c unidade era muito alto em nosso quarto. Isso pode não ser um problema para alguns, mas é para mim. A música ao vivo é tão agradável de ouvir enquanto fica na varanda após um longo dia explorando.O manobrista e concierge foi muito útil e cuidou bem do nosso carro alugado e nossa bagagem/sacos quando precisávamos tê-lo realizado antes de sairmos para o aeroporto.No geral, esta foi uma boa estadia em um belo lugar! Se você optar por ficar aqui - você estará em uma localização perfeita com lojas, praias e restaurantes por perto.

We stayed at the Royal Hawaiian in early December of 2021. We were welcomed by very kind, knowledgeable and inviting staff. The lobby was beautifully decked out for Christmas. Our room was in the tower, so we didn't stay in the historic part of the hotel, but watching the waves and the surfers was amazing from our balcony on the 8th floor. We received breakfast and drink vouchers. Some things feel a little vintage and outdated, but nothing too terrible. Our bathroom was gorgeous. However, I could do without the heated toilet seat. The a/c unit was very loud in our room. This may not be a problem for some, but it is for me. The live music is so nice to listen while hanging out on the balcony after a long day exploring. The valet and concierge was very helpful and took good care of our rental car and our luggage/bags when we needed to have it held before we left for the airport. Overall this was a good stay in a beautiful place! If you choose to stay here - you will be in a perfect location with shops, beaches, and restaurants all close by.

Vivemos em Oahu e ficamos aqui para minha celebração de aniversário. Eu não poderia pedir melhor! Ficamos na parte histórica do hotel e isso me emocionou demais - os banheiros desse lado são menores (o que, considerando que foi construído em 1927, faz sentido!), mas o que você recebe é muito melhor! A cama era maravilhosa, minha pequena varanda me lembrou da nossa estadia na Toscana, o restaurante Azure teve um jantar fenomenal de 4 pratos com excelente serviço e café da manhã no Surf Lanai também foi maravilhoso (recomendo totalmente o Pink Palace Pancakes e uma goiaba mimosa) ! Quanto a algumas coisas que precisam ser atualizadas, sinto muito, mas discordo. Temos ficado em muitos outros resorts de 4 e 5 estrelas aqui em Oahu durante o nosso tempo aqui… Se você quiser novinho em folha, fique em um lugar novinho em folha. Se você quer elegância e história e ficar em algum lugar que foi colocado no mapa por pessoas como Elvis e Frank Sinatra, fique aqui. Há uma tonelada de novos estabelecimentos que são resorts de cortador de biscoitos em Oahu - tenho certeza que eles terão espaço e serão mais baratos, mas se você está vindo para férias no Havaí, você não quer férias no Havaí e não um feito apenas por Hilton? O Royal Hawaiian é lindo e faz jus ao seu nome e estou muito feliz por termos conseguido ficar aqui!

We live on Oahu and stayed here for my bday celebration. I couldn’t have asked for better! We stayed in the historic part of the hotel and that thrilled me to no end - the bathrooms on that side are smaller (which considering that was built in 1927 it makes sense!) but what you get instead is so much better! The bed was wonderful, my little balcony reminded me of our stay in Tuscany, the Azure restaurant had a phenomenal 4 course dinner with excellent service and breakfast at the Surf Lanai was wonderful as well (totally recommend the Pink Palace Pancakes and a guava mimosa)! As far as some things needing updated, I’m sorry but i disagree. We have stayed in many other 4 and 5 star resorts here on Oahu during our time here… If you want brand new, stay somewhere brand new. If you want elegance and history and to stay somewhere that was put on the map by people like Elvis and Frank Sinatra, stay here. There are a ton of brand new establishments that are cookie cutter resorts on Oahu - I’m sure they’ll have room and be cheaper, but if you’re coming for a Hawaiian vacation, don’t you want a Hawaiian vacation and not one just made by Hilton? The Royal Hawaiian is beautiful and stands up to its name and I’m so pleased we were able to stay here!

What a great hotel to stay at! The staff are extremely friendly and respond to requests immediately. The hotel is located close to all the amenities you need. The bed was VERY comfortable and as someone with long-term back issues this was a real pleasant surprise. We stayed in the historic portion and it was very quiet and the room (king) was a great size for the 2 of us. We would definitely stay there again!

This is an amazing historic hotel walking distance to the beach and all the restaurants and shopping in the heart of Waikiki. The rooms are on the small side - common to a 120+ year old hotel, but everything is top notch quality. I recommend reserving the luau and beach chairs before you arrive as they are sold out weeks in advance due to the location - but if you miss, you can go early to reserve other beach chairs and the concierge will find you another local luau option. Food and drinks are amazing and the Mai Tai bar has great local music many nights during the week - a great place to relax at the end of the day. Keep in mind that this is Waikiki so the beach will be much busier than those in the North Shore or other islands, and this is a historic hotel - so if you prefer shiny and new v. historic ambiance, try the Sheraton next door. But we will definitely be returning to The Royal Hawaiian!

Tive uma estadia perfeita. Apreciei muito a equipe. Eles foram de primeira qualidade e fizeram a nossa estadia incrível. Eles eram experientes e tão úteis. O hotel é super limpo e lindo e a localização é fantástica. Estávamos perto de tudo e, como hóspede do resort, você pode reservar ótimos guarda-sóis/assentos de praia para relaxar. For the age of this property, I was impressed. Great service made up for some obviously old elements.Bell/valet staff were friendly and helpful and fun to get to know.Unfortunately Waikiki is basically a big homeless camp now but this hotel is a little ways back from the Main Street so it seems more private.Incredible lighting on the trees in front of the hotel at night.

I had a perfect stay. I appreciated the staff so much. They were top notch and made our stay amazing. They were knowledgeable andso helpful. The hotel is super clean and gorgeous and the location is fantastic. We were close to everything and as a resort guest you could reserve great beach umbrella/seats to relax. Everything is in walking distance and the live music at night was beautiful.

I was a little worried from a few reviews complaining of it needing updated and not great service. Nothing could be farther from the truth. It’s a BEAUTIFUL historical resort, if you want modern don’t go to a historical hotel, but do not confuse historical with needing updating. The service was PERFECTION. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Not to mention accommodating. We were there after Christmas before the new year and loved every minute. The beach is amazing. Don’t think twice, book here!!

It wasn’t amazing or terrible. The service was definitely not a 5 star rating. I think I got better service at 3 star hotels than this one. The front desk check in didn’t even bother to explain to you about any of the amenities offered and when I asked about them, just threw me a piece of paper. I didn’t know where anything was located in the hotel and just had to roam around until I found the pool, the lounge, the area where they have the cultural classes and even elevators. When we got to the room the extra housekeeping items I had asked for beforehand so I would have less contact with people (it’s CoVid) were not there and was even missing items for even our first day. They had to come twice because they forgot to bring all stuff. So much for trying to get less contact. It was convenient to be right on the beach, but that was about it. Restaurants were over priced for just blah food, but I guess you pay for the view since you’re looking at the beach. The best service I got was from the valet guys. They were super friendly and helpful. I’ll try another hotel on the beach next door the next time we come.

Hotel hermoso en pleno Waikiki a menos de un bloque de la calle principal, rodeado de comercio y restaurantes, pero logrando tener esa atmósfera privada y acogedora. Las habitaciones son amplias, limpias y muy comodas. Le hace falta más restaurantes y precios de spa más accesibles. La piscina es bastante chica.
