Overall, a very nice place, lively atmosphere, and friendly staff.I have a home in Costa Rica and when I'm not there it gets rented out. So on this trip, I did a week at my home and opted to try this place as second week of my stay. They certainly didn't disappoint. Hibachi dinner did not have surf or turf available but still very tasty options. I would reccomend they use eco friendly transportation as getting rides around the property seems to be very common. Especially for those who cannot walk the hills. Had a wonderful stay and will consider it again in the future.

Service was awesome. Food was a bit hit and miss. Lots of spiders in our room. Awesome view. Resort is spead out all over the hillside with lots of hilly walks. If you dont like to walk they offer shuttle service. Pool was very nice. I would go back.

My original review just said "I had no idea it was going to be as great as it was." Since then I have been to quite a few places, and on a couple of cruises. This is the place that I have wished I was at on every vacation I have been on since. This place is amazing for it's relaxed atmosphere, smiling faces, exceptional service and just all around good vibes. I am glad to be going back this summer!!!

El servicio es excelente. El personal es sumamente cálido, capacitado y atento. Las instalaciones son espectaculares, aseado, precioso. Fui con mi familia y los protocolos de aseo y desinfección por la crisis del covid son excelentes. La comida una maravilla. Realmente encantado, es la segunda vez que lo visito y trataré de continuar. Gracias a los colaboradores del Hotel Secrets Papagayo.

Loved it. Was quiet. Serene. Peaceful. All the staff was friendly and while some things were not in full swing from being closed previously. Nothing felt off or missing. Great staff. Location is beautiful. Get ready to walk or take the shuttle

As instalações são muito boas, mas a organização é mais do que pobre 👎. Embora tenhamos chegado como um pequeno grupo (dois casais), ficamos longe um do outro Acomodado! Sempre tínhamos que marcar um encontro para "nos encontrar". Tempos de espera de até 40 minutos tiveram que ser aceitos à noite. Se você tivesse um assento, o serviço era bom. A comida não atendeu às expectativas cinco estrelas. Conclusão Apenas um sistema bonito não é suficiente - não é recomendado 🚷❗️

My new wife and I returned from our stay at Secrets Papagayo after we had our wedding there. The best word to describe the entire experience is exceptional!From the moment we arrived, we were waited on hand and foot. The resort's staff was extremely courteous and accommodating for everything from general questions, to booking spa treatments, to pretty much everything you could think of.As far as health and safety, the resort and staff did everything in their power to ensure every area, from the gift shop, to the bars, to common areas, to the multiple restaurants were set to the highest expectation to ensure guest and staff safety during Covid19. We were highly impressed.For our wedding, Natalia and her team were extremely helpful and made it quite easy to ensure our special day was exactly that, special. We could not have asked for a more perfect, memorable experience.As for the resort, we stayed in an Ocean View room and it was perfect. Everything was clean, stocked and wait staff/housekeeping staff were always ready to take care of us. The entire resort was beautiful, from the dark sand beach to the amazing flora and fauna around the area. Each morning we were greeted by a friendly iguana on our deck as we got ready to drink our morning espresso. If you love plants and animals, ensure to bring your camera. You will not be disappointed.Lastly, the resort bungalows are along hills in the resort. Everythinf is within a short walking distance, however, depending on your health and ability for physical activity, you'll want to use the shuttle service that runs 24/7 around the resort. You'll never have to wait longer than a couple minutes and all drivers were extremely friendly. You're also not required to tip, but with the staff exceeding in customer service, we tipped frequently and would encourage all to do the same.It's bittersweet that we had to leave, but we are thankful for the time we shared there and the memories we have.

Always wanted to try a Secrets resort, so tried this one for the first time. People are very nice. But I came to hang out at the beach and it was not welcoming at all. The Secrets resort allows locals not staying at the resort to enter the resort through the resort gate to walk down to the resort beach and solicit and hound guests to buy various products or make trades. One person on the beach asked us if we would trade our shoes for his pottery. This happened EVERY DAY we were there. We could not peacefully walk on the beach or enjoy the beach without being constantly hounded and solicited. I will never stay there again for that reason. Huge bummer. I’ve stayed at a lot of resorts like Mexico and Domicinan republic and have never been solicited like at Secrets Papagayo Costa Rica.

Belo quarto e jardins com vistas deslumbrantes da baía. A equipe é excelente, feliz em servir, atitudes maravilhosas e nos tratou como ouro. O serviço, a comida e as bebidas eram muito bons, assim como o serviço de quarto e o cuidado diário do quarto. Nossa estada foi no auge da COVID, e a equipe fez tudo para limpar, higienizar e mascarar de forma consistente, o que tinha que ser difícil durante longos dias e noites quentes. Belo ambiente que aumenta o relaxamento e o romance. Estávamos celebrando um aniversário de casamento especial e a equipe do Segredos tornou-o ainda mais especial para nós de muitas maneiras. Encontramos um atalho para a caminhada do nosso quarto até os restaurantes / piscina principal caminhando ao longo da praia, que era adorável e cortante através da área da piscina do spa. As caminhadas eram ótimas depois de comer tão bem. Tão feliz que escolhemos este resort e não podemos esperar para voltar.

Si encontras una oferta y pagas menos de 120 dolares por persona, el lugar vale la pena. Si pagas mas de eso (precio regular es $250 por persona), yo creo que no obtenes tu dinero en valor. La comida de los buffets es mala, no esta a la altura de la infraestructura del hotel. Los restaurantes de la noche están bien, pero no van a ganar ningún premio a la cuchara mundial. El alcohol en los bares es premium, hay gran variedad y marcas. El servicio en general es bueno, pero suele ser MUCHO mejor con menor ocupación, es decir martes/miércoles/jueves, si puedes elegir que días ir, elige esos.

Beautiful room and grounds with gorgeous bay views. Staff is outstanding, happy to be of service, wonderful attitudes and treated us like gold. The service, food, and drinks were very good, as was room service and the daily care of our room. Our stay was at the height of COVID, and staff went above and beyond to clean, sanitize and consistently mask up which had to be difficult during long hot days and nights. Beautiful atmosphere that enhances relaxation and romance. We were celebrating a special wedding anniversary and Secrets staff made it even more special for us in so many ways We found a shortcut for the walk from our room to go to the restaurants/main pool by walking along the beach which was lovely, and cutting through the spa pool area. The walks felt great after eating so well. So happy we chose this resort and we cannot wait to return.

Great staff. Painful to be around a resort full of guests too cheap to ever tip. Long wait times at restaurants. We were always at the buffet to eat. Drinks light on the booze. :) Lots of jellyfish in the bay (obviously out of the resort's control) usually too many to swim. Larger pool/lounge area atmosphere like a frat party, with blah tourists everywhere. Resort is not walk-able, and loud, gas fueled carts speed around carting guests late at night. Resort WAS well suited for a large group of 30 wedding guests; three day wedding celebration was fun. But otherwise the stay was entirely overpriced and absolutely void of any substance or cultural experience.

Local paradisíaco, com uma pequena praia, com uma vista magnífica. Podemos apreciar a sua fauna. Da praia consegui ver duas manta raias a fazer o seu passeio e ver os pelicanos a pescar. Recomendo.

Secrets Papagayo Costa Rica This was our first time going to a Secrets resort and wow were we impressed. The staff did everything possible to make sure our visit was something we would never forget. The food! OMG, we were not ready for this! The food was absolutely awesome. Breakfast was amazing, lunch was awesome, and the dinners were out of this world. I think the entire time we were there we only had one meal the we didn’t love. Activities: the staff did a great job coming up with fun pool and dancing activities to do keeping us engaged and making new friends. We also paid to go and hike one of the local volcanoes, I’m so glad we did this, a lifetime memory we will never forget. The activities coordinator took care of all the details, all we needed to do was show up on time. We also did the couples massage which was great. If I had to pick anything that I wish was a little better it would be the bartenders. They did a great job making drinks quickly but I felt like they could have done better engaging with the visitors. If your looking for a great vacation with your special someone the this secrets is for you! The beach is beautiful even with the black volcano sand.
