If you’ve always dreamt of seeing the fascinating landscape of the volcanic areas of Boa Vista, Cape Verde, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, the new Hotel Riu Karamboa (All Inclusive 24h) complex gives you the opportunity. The Hotel Karamboa, situated on an endless white sandy beach with crystal clear water, offers the best views of this area full with dunes that touch the shore. The massive fresh water swimming pool as well as the Jacuzzi, sauna and “Renova Spa” wellness centre will make your stay as pleasant as possible. In the Hotel ’s buffet restaurant we have prepared the best cuisine just for you. If you’d like to sample international flavours from different corners of the world, don’t miss the different themed restaurants on offer at the hotel. The 24h All Inclusive system keeps you entertained all day long. Adults and children alike can enjoy the organised activities to have fun as a family, couple or with friends. Meanwhile, the RiuLand club ensures the little ones have a ball enjoying the best entertainment programme. Considering the region’s desert-like appearance, it’s hard to believe that these shores were once covered in vegetation. However, recurring droughts and a poor agricultural policy have reduced Boa Vista and Cape Verdean to a dry, almost lunar landscape. Nonetheless, it hasn’t stopped the island being full of locations with spectacular beaches such the Playa de las Tortugas (turtle beach), Chaves beach, Santa Monica beach and the cemetery of dolphins. You mustn’t miss the various excursions you can go on in the vicinity of the Hotel. Boa Vista is undoubtedly a destination for relaxation, not to mention the excellent service you can expect from RIU Hotels.

“I’ve just returned from a week away at this hotel and I really did enjoy my stay here.
The rooms are clean, the grounds are well manicured, the staff are very polite and friendly and the food is good!
If you are looking for somewhere to relax, then this is the place for you. The Spa offers some lovely treatments if you like to pamper yourself (I had a fabulous 80 minute massage).
The beach is lovely too.... Lots of sun beds to use and parasols for shade should you want it. There’s a really nice sea breeze which keeps you cool while you tan and the kite surfers are so entertaining to watch! My only gripe here is some smokers leaving their cigarette butts on the beach!!!
The people who live on the Island often use the saying “No Stress”.... and it’s absolutely true here. There is no stress! I felt very relaxed and would return for another holiday.”

I can not fault this hotel. It is absolutely amazing. Where do I start. The restaurants are unbelievable with every variety of fresh and cooked food available. You can not go hungry. The drink is second to none and you can order just about any drink. The evening entertainment is fun and keeps you entertained, after the show you can head to the karaoke bar and sing a song, after that head to the night club until 2 in the morning. The pool area is fantastic with a swim up bar and the bar staff are excellent. The beach area is beautiful and less than a minutes walk to the pool bar. All the staff from the cleaners, to the animation staff are all warm, friendly and welcoming. If you want to go somewhere to relax and forget everything for a couple of weeks, this is the place. I will be coming back again and again....

Great food selection, good service, nice room, fantastic beach, lively pool area. Plenty of space around the complex, and quite areas around the hotel to relax in the evening. One day we walked up the coast to the village, took about 40 mins, the azure blue water and white sand are amazing. After a cool drink and relax at the first bar we took a quick swim in the bay then ambled through the village. Villagers were very friendly with many local crafts on display. It was a 10 min taxi ride back.

The staff is the best of all, full of energy, always smiling and willing to help. The restaurants are ok but I stay with the buffet (changes the types of food every day). Recommend to take cash in euros because any extra activity (quads, pickups, kite surf, surf, etc) requires a deposit in euros and credit cards are not always accepted. If you want to rent a car, do the paperwork the day before so the day after you just pick up the keys and do whatever you want. Also, for sun creams, afyer sun and any other similar, buy it in your country of residence because here will cost a fortune.

This was advertised as a 5 star hotel but was more like a 3 star at max. The hotel ground, location and rooms were nice and there were no complaints there. The big problem was the way the hotel was run and the staff.
This is an all inclusive hotel which use the smallest plates and glasses so you have to constantly spend your time going up to bars and getting food. The mini bar in the room had nothing but water so you had to walk half a mile to the closest bar and bring drinks back to the room in tiny half pint (If that) glasses.
Staff would not speak, were very rude and most of them were slow. I think the most helpful staff were the Housekeeping staff who helped us with bags.
This could all be down to the lack of competition on the island but hopefully as more hotels open they will have to up their game.
I would love to go back to Boa Vista but I would not want to go to a RIU hotel.

This was our first holiday to Cape Verde and also with RIU. We were not disappointed. We flew with TUI in an all exclusive package for one week and pick up was easy and swift directly from outside of the airport. A short 2-3 minute coach journey from the airport sees you arrive at the vista that is Karamboa. (There are only two flights in and out of the airport every day so there is no worries about aeroplane noise)As you enter through the grand entrance you are met with a cold fruit drink from a friendly member of staff who takes your cases and directs you to the check-in desk. We were greeted by the check-in staff and asked to pay for the Cape Verde mandatory Tourist Tax. For a week this cost the two of us around €32 euros from memory. You are then asked which room you would like and advised as to the layout of the hotel through a handy map. This map also includes all opening times of bars and restaurants within the complex in 4 different languages. We had a twin room with balcony tucked away to the far end of the hotel (still within a 2-3 minutes walk to the centre of the complex and the pool). Room was super clean and had everything you would expect from a modern hotel. All rooms come with Aircon and a ceiling fan as standard. The pool area is situated in the centre of the complex towards the sea. It has three main pool areas, a jacuzzi and a bar in the water should you want a drink from the cool of the water. The pool is not heated however, so be aware it may be a shock from the heat outside it.The beach is beautiful and stretches for as far as the eye can see. Standing on the beach with the hotel behind you; to your right along the beach leads you to the town, to the left leads you out away from civilisation - great for a romantic stroll, especially when the sun sets. As the island is relatively isolated in the Atlantic it can get very windy. This leads to inevitably rough seas, with flag systems in place within the lifeguard supervised areas. The red flag is no joke however as waves can easily reach 6-10ft as they break, tossing you aside if you are not a confident and competent swimmer. Be wary if you want to swim in these conditions. If the flag is not red however, you will be blessed with crystal clear waters and fish around your feet, even in the shallows. Another thing to also be aware of is the 'street sellers' who will roam the beach pressuring you to buy things from them. Be wary, they wander in groups and will often haggle until a deal is done. They surrounded my fiancé whilst I was away getting us a drink to which I returned to find two sellers pushing items in front of her. Politely asking them to leave often works but be wary of their persistence.Food wise you are spoilt. There are 3/4 specialist restaurants available for booking (no fee) at the reception and we would recommend the Asian restaurant. The main, non-booking, restaurant is centre of the complex and features a large dining area inside and out with large buffets cycling every cuisine you could think of or indeed want. Most food is different every night and I guarantee you will be spoilt for choice. The freshly cooked joints of meat hand carved in front of you was a particular favourite of mine.As well as the beach and pool there are many other activities. Tennis and shooting can be booked at the reception and there is a wellness centre featuring gym, spa and paid massages and facials. Whilst on the topic of money, Cape Verde accepts Euro's, but will convert anything you purchase into their own currency by multiplying it by 110 so be aware. One thing we could not fault at any point in the holiday was the staff. They are so helpful and really bend over backwards to offer anything you could want. They are also multi linguists so whichever language you speak there will always be a member of staff at hand to speak to you fluently. They were also super helpful when our flight out had engine troubles and we had to stay longer at the hotel, putting us up in a room for no extra cost.Best holiday ever!!!!

What a beautiful hotel this is! Right from the moment you arrive, you are looked after. Suitcases are taken to your room while you check in, staff greet you with a drink, rooms are spotless. Bottled water is left in your room each day. The hygiene and cleanliness at this hotel are above average. The toilets by the pool have a permanent cleaner, there is antiseptic hand gel in all areas of the hotel. For those of you that like your food, there is something for everyone and plenty of it. The restaurants are well staffed from chefs, waiters, to any spillages on the floor being swept up straight away. There is an ample assortment of drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic. The staff here are always smiling. Everything about this hotel is positive. The only down side is some of some of the guests. Guests who use the toilet and don't wash there hands. The hotel do everything in their power to keep this hotel clean, some of the guests need to appreciate that and think about their own hygiene. Well done Riu Karamboa. I hope the company regularly reward their staff for the super work they are doing.

Real 5 Star Hotel and Resort! It was amazing here, the weather was beautiful the sand was pearly white and the sea was stunningly blue. There is a huge pool with a few different bars right next to it. There is 2 tennis courts which are in a very great condition, there is also a toddlers, kids, and teens area which has its own private pool and a ping pong table. There is over a 1000 rooms, the rooms are also in a great condition, the cleaners may not speak very good English but thats alright as they are very nice. The staff here is amazing, I have never met happier and nicer staff anywhere else. Overall these 5 stars are deserved.

Brilliant... Very relaxing, plenty of different foods to eat...Very clean , the staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel lovely. Rooms are clean and the showers work great. Pools are clean and well maintained ( no suntan lotion on the surface) lots of sun beds and shade. Numerous activities and things to do IN the hotel... The SEA is very rough with undercurrents , be very careful. ( lifeguards/ coloured flags) Great holiday will definitely go again.

No me gustaba bañarme allí.

Perfect place if you want to relax in the sun stress free. We returned yesterday but the memory still lingers of the wonderful time we spent on holiday at the Riu Palace. The hotel and the staff are excellent the entrainment both night and day will keep you occupied if you so desire. Plenty of variety of food and drink. The beach is few minutes walk from the room, if you want a swim in the sea this is not the place for you the red flag is always flying. As they say on the island 'No Stress'

Paradise at an affordable price. For all inclusive the food is very good and fresh. Hotel staff were superb and there’s plenty of entertainment for the kids. The excursions were a little pricey but what you saw was exotic and worth the money really. If you want a relaxing week whilst the kids play it’s the ideal place.
